A Day In The Life Of A Guard
--
The City’s falling apart and the Northeast Quadrant is ablaze.
The Baron’s sent me to walk back and forth at the docks, to the Southeast.
I think he doesn’t trust me.
It’s just as well. The docks are gross and dark and cold, but that’s good with me. It keeps me out of harm’s way.
What was that?
Must have been nothing.
Anyways, what was I saying? Oh yeah, the only reason I took this guard position is because I wanted to be able to walk around after curfew. It clears my head, which is so hard otherwise. And the free boots. Boots are hard to come by these days.
My friend ate boots once to stay alive. Beats the sloop they serve at the Siren’ Rest Tavern anyways. Haven’t been there since I joined the Watch. Don’t think they’d take too kindly to the Baron’s presence. Don’t blame them. That friend died of the Gloom.
What was that?
Must have been nothing.
Anyways, what was I saying? Oh yeah, the Gloom.
